So Tweet! FMS41

These little guys are just hangin' out on the wires and passing the time people watching. They're probably thinking "Oh those humans are so proud of themselves tweeting their thoughts -  why we've been doing it forever!"

Cindy's sketch at FMS is definitely tweet-worthy!  Hope you have time to join us!

Button Up! PPA137

My daughter's college roommate is having a baby soon so I decided to get a card ready to go.  She and my daughter Erin are avid 90210 fans and spent hours watching the show while at college.  Even today they like to catch those all day rerun marathons!  Her roommate's first son has a definite 90210 name and I asked Erin if there was going to be another 90210 name.  Erin said she didn't know  - but I bet there is a 90210 name in the wings!  So in typical mother fashion I said "I can't imagine naming a baby after a TV character."  My daughter gave me the "seriously you didn't just say that" stare - and I burst out laughing.  I was so busted............yep I loved The Waltons...........good night John Boy..........good night Erin........

Use Margaret's sketch as your starting point and play at Pals Paper Arts this week!

Chit Chat - FMS 40

These little birds are adorable - just having a nice neighborly chat. Sometimes I need to be reminded to slow down, take a breath and chat with a neighbor.  Last Thursday I was unexpectedly called into work.  I was out running errands and said I would be there as soon as I could.  And then I started rushing............

When I got home I hooked the dog leash to my belt loop so Abby would be "walked" while I made trips to the car unloading groceries.  My cell phone was tucked into my neck while I rearranged an appointment - and  walked the dog and carried groceries - and waved to a neighbor as I scooted in and out of the house dragging a very confused poodle.

On my last trip across the lawn I called the library on my cell to say I'd be there in 15 minutes. While I waited for someone to answer I heard my home phone ring in the kitchen.  A quick sprint through the back door to grab the phone and there I stood - a dog clipped to my waist, a grocery bag hanging on each arm and a phone on each ear. As I said hello on the house phone I heard hello come through my cell phone!

When you call yourself it is definitely time to slow down.............

Hope you have time to slow down and play along at Freshly Made Sketches!

Magic.............FMS39

It was crunch time!  My FMS card for this week was due and I was tired from doing shower invitations.  There was a serious lack of motivation in the craft room.  But then that UPS truck pulled up and left a big box of brand new Stampin' Up! products.  I brought the box upstairs and made a vow not to open it until my design team card was finished and photographed.  What was I thinking?  There was no card making happening - I was too focused on the box.  I finally gave in, ripped that box open and this card just magically appeared!

The magic ingredients:

Raspberry Ripple paper and ink - yum!
Gumball Green ink - beautiful green!
Birds of a Feather DSP - tweet as can be!
Apothecary Accents Framelits - amazingly cool shapes!
Large Scallop Edgelit - so elegant!
Reason to Smile Stamp Set - made a striking bouquet!
Paper Piercing Templates - So! Much! Fun!
Lovely Little Labels Stamps and Punches - way too cute!

And the good news is that the box isn't empty yet!

Work a little magic yourself this week at Freshly Made Sketches!

You Asked for It!

OK Angie, Jen, LeAnne and Nance - you asked for it!  Had to go in the attic and dig but I found a faded old snapshot of me my first year of teaching - long hair, mini skirt, and platform shoes.  Interesting that we couldn't wear pants to school but miniskirts were perfectly ok! Some guy must have made that rule!  This shot was taken toward the end of the school year at "not yet my husband's" college graduation.  Ahhh the 70's............

It wasn't long before we were all in maxi skirts and boots!

There is a bit of stamping to report in this post.  I have been 4 days working on my daughter's baby shower invites.  She liked a recent thank you card I made for her so I modeled them after this card.  All I have left to do is address the envelopes.  Mass production makes me crazy - each card required 7 trips through the Big Shot - times 40 cards - yikes!

After all of that talk about bedazzled bunnies Erin decided simple flowers with button centers worked best so we are doing a "Cute as a Button" theme.

Celebrate Your Birthday! PPA136

Ahhh red, white and blue - nautical or patriotic?  Since I get seasick just watching The Deadliest Catch I decided patriotic was the way to go!  With a bit of sparkly silver this card is perfect for a July birthday!

Show us your red, white and blue this week at Pals Paper Arts~!

Oh Boy! FMS38

This card is off to a wonderful friend of mine who welcomed her first grandson this week.  We met as brand new teachers way back in 1971 when we were assigned neighboring classrooms and have been friends ever since. We were something else with our long straight hair, mini skirts and platform shoes..........seems like yesterday............

Hope you join us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!

Behind the Scenes - FMS 37

Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes on a challenge site like Freshly Made Sketches? It takes a lot of organization and e-mails to keep things going! There are time zones to contend with, sketches to design, posts to write and deadlines to meet.  Oh and then we all have "real life" going on as well.  Lesley keeps us on track - in spite of the craziness and everyone helps out.  We have a design team blog where we post our cards, our picks, our text and somehow magically everything appears as scheduled on the FMS site.  Notice I say magically because as the Senior Citizen of the group I am not assigned  major computer tasks - I have Lesley and Jen on speed dial for all of my computer issues.  (Remember I am the gal who shut off the main computer system in the library with her earring!)  Keeping the baby blog hop a secret from Rita was not easy but Lesley had a plan!  We all designed a decoy card to post on our DT site so Rita would see them when she added hers.  Then Lesley snuck in very late at night, took out the decoys and posted the Blog Hop list. I love it when a plan all comes together!  Just thought you might like to see my decoy card - so glad we were able to surprise Rita!
