Fusion: Hello

It was very quiet in my house the other night while I made this calm soft thank you card.  I must have been inspired by the four hours of peace and quiet while the Big Guy took the troops to Monster Jam.  Who knew this little girly girl would love Monster Trucks!?!?!?

And she even got Gravedigger's autograph!

No ear protectors necessary in my craft was delightful......

I used both the sketch and the photo this week for inspiration at Fusion - your choice what to use!  Hope you play along!

Sending Sunshine and Smiles......FMS297

A friend of ours was recently given a diagnosis that no one wants to hear.  After our initial conversations and the shock of it all I decided I just can't keep sending him "oh I'm so sorry - be strong" cards. We were summer neighbors at the lake for 25 years before he retired and moved south so we have lots of fun memories.  Every week I jot down one of those memories in a card and send it out.  I am hoping if the memory makes me smile it may make him smile too!  This card is headed south tomorrow reminding of the time he tried to swamp his brother's Sunfish and ended up swamping himself the crowd on the beach cheered!

My talented friend Jen Mitchell has a great sketch for us this week......just slightly!  Hope you join us at Freshly Made Sketches!

Stamp Review Crew: Seaside Shore

I surprised myself when I bought this stamp set. I thought it was cute and I do love the ocean.  So why was I surprised?  Well I'm not a fish fan - don't want to see them, touch them, smell them or eat them!  I sit with my back to the aquariums in waiting rooms!  My poor kids grew up without a goldfish or two.  And when I go in the lake I keep telling myself that there are no fish in the lake...none at all....hah! Maybe this fear comes from a crazy fish we had in our aquarium when I was young. It was a big catfishy looking thing that lived for years. My father loved his fish tank and especially that fish.  Every now and then it would launch itself out of the tank and land on the carpet next to the couch....true story!  My father would laugh and plop it back in the tank until the next time.  I confess to saving that thing twice because no one else was in the living room.  But good fortune doesn't last day it launched itself into an empty living room......

If you have just viewed Kelly's wonderful work you are right on track!  If not head on back.....

But if you are going right in order Mickey and her terrific creations are next!

Dreamers Gotta Dream.........FMS294

This is my life......forever trying to sneak time in an Adirondack chair to read. But there is always something going on in this family of ours!  This past weekend the Big Guy and Emma's daddy put up her new swingset....which she calls her playground.  It was quite the event.  I'm not sure if the language of the builders was always playground appropriate but hey they worked ten hours for free!  My daughter was the gopher and I provided lunch.....and we both wrangled puppies!

The pups were eventually banished to the playhouse.....even though they preferred to be underfoot!

I love the sweet square sketch my friend and talented Artisan Jen Timko designed for us this week!  Hope you join us at Freshly Made Sketches!

Fusion: Sand, Beach....and Sunshine!

Those summery beach signs were my inspiration for my card today.  We are a long way from the nearest ocean but luckily "our" lake is nearby!  We search for flat rocks to skip instead of seashells and float on big old tractor inner tubes instead of surfboards. OK so no fresh seafood but wood grilled pizza and barbecued ribs taste good too! Our sandy beach is smaller but there is plenty of lawn for softball, volleyball and rolling tube races.  It takes a lot of talent.....and a lot of climb into the hole of the tube and let your friends roll you across the lawn, over the sand and into the lake.

But in the meantime there is something wonderful about being the only person lakeside after the holiday weekend is kids, no dogs, no boats.......just me and my book of the week :)

I took my cue from the beachy photo at Fusion this week. Hope you play along using the sketch, the photo or both!

The fun sketch at Global Design Project this week reminded me of the beach signs so I used it for my card!

Christmas in July....FMS295

Once upon a time long ago our family was small......the kids were little and getting together for family events was easy. But kids grow up, move away and have their own kids and suddenly getting together at holiday time was tough - especially in the winter!  So a few years ago we decided to gather once a year over Fourth of July weekend at our camp on the lake.......and Cuzziepalooza was born!  It is two days of fun, family, food, and surprises - a bit like Christmas in July!

My very talented Australian friend Narelle has us going in circles this week at Freshly Made Sketches - hope you join in the fun!

Stamp Ink Paper has a Christmas in July theme this week!

New Babies.....FMS294

The Hero Arts monthly card kit for June contains an amazing stamp/die set that is loaded with silhouette images of African animals and trees.  I did a simple watercolor wash of yellows and pinks then stamped my images.  The elephant family was perfect to create this sweet baby card!

I confess that I raided Emma's craft box to borrow her Crayola set of watercolors - might be time to buy my own! But I don't think Emma even noticed since she has been awfully busy with the new babies that arrived at her house. And these little babies are much better nappers than Emma ever was!  They had their first checkup today and weighed in at a whopping 4 pounds each.  As you can see crate training is going very well.......ha!

Amy - that talented Texas artisan friend of mine - has a great layered sketch for us this week at Freshly Made Sketches - enjoy!

Fusion: Fourth of July Jars

About those new stainless steel appliances I was talked into when we remodeled our kitchen two years ago.......I tried really hard to love them but it wasn't meant to be.  So much much easily marked.  And don't get me started on the horrible glass top stove!  I just couldn't take those high maintenance cold metallic sentries any more!  New white appliances were delivered today and I am much happier.  It was like welcoming old friends back home!  Hello sweet friends!  And the stainless steel trio?  They are headed to the lake - my son has become their new constant caregiver......

Fourth of July is just around the corner so the inspiration at Fusion is perfect for this time of year! I used both elements on my card today for Fusion!  But you can be inspired by part of it.....or all of it!  Hope you join us!

Where I Come From....FMS293

Where I come from daisies grow wild alongside the the edge of the fields.......or along a fence line.  I don't know anyone who actually plants daisies....they just sort of appear on their own!

Where I come from this traffic light (about a mile north of my house) is the last light you encounter before you cross "The Blue Line".....meaning you have entered the Adirondack Mountains.  A few miles later you would arrive at the Great Sacandaga Lake (where our camp is) and a few more miles puts you in Hamilton County which is larger than the state of Rhode Island.  1800 square miles - give or take - and not one traffic light in the whole county!

Where I come from driving south will take you to "civilization" but for some reason we always seem to head north.............

I used the new SU sets Daisy Delight and Beautiful Bouquet to create my card today along with that gorgeous Delightful Daisy DSP.

Karren Johnson my amazingly talented friend from the other side of the planet (wonder how many traffic lights between here and New Zealand?) designed this curvy sketch for us this week at Freshly Made Sketches! Hope you join us!

Stamp Review Crew: Labeler Alphabet

Labeler Alphabet is perfect when you want to make up your own sentiment.  And it is easy to use because it doesn't need to be exact!  It is supposed to be a bit wonky!

And speaking of daughter and her husband are on a road trip out west this week......1300 miles to South Dakota!  Why?  To pick up these sweet Havanese pups!

Are these guys adorable or what?!?!?  Emma says she is calling the left one Blaze and her momma says the right one will be Bentley......I may call them Bandit and Scruffy! Meanwhile Emma and I will stay home and wait - impatiently I'm sure! We'll shop for doggie toys and treats and tuck this card in with the goodies.

It's going to be a reign of terriers for sure.......hopefully not a reign of terror training two pups at once!

If you have just seen Natalie's wonderful work you are on track!  If not head back!

Otherwise you are off to visit Kelly and see what treats she has in store!

Stamp Sets:  Labeler Alphabet, Bella and Friends, Garden Party, Number of Years
Ink:  Dapper Denim, Calypso Coral, Real Red, Smoky Slate

Quite the Leap....FMS292

I love "behind the scenes" stories that tell what really the making of this card for example......

I can't envision a card totally in my head.....I have to play around with paper, colors and images a bit on scrap paper before I start the real thing.  I loved Cecile's circles this week and decided to try a one layer card and recreate the sketch with just stamping.  I planned a light wash in the background with my design stamped on top of it.  I pulled out Eastern Elegance and started playing with circles and patterns (as you can see below) while my watercolor dried.....just trying to figure out how I would do it "for real."

But my watercolor wash ended up being very dark and I thought to that looks like a frog pond.......and before I knew I had frogs playing leap frog across the pool!

Cecile my oh so talented friend from across the big pond has a delightful sketch for us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!

I am also adding this card to the CAS Summer watercolour gallery.
